Lease and Procurement Financing
This involves companies leasing / selling their products to their buyers either on lease or on procurement basis. These goods are considered as capital goods by the buyer’s company and hence the ability of the buyer to pay their suppliers immediately may be limited, due to their balance sheet strength or they wish to have it paid over medium to long term basis for obtaining balance sheet benefit and also to manage the working capital requirements of their company.
The lease and procurement financing are done in two programmes generally and they are;
1. Commercial Assignment (CA) Programme – where the buyer is an end user of the supplier (the name of the model could change from one supplier to another) and client of the bank. Under this programme, the supplier assigns the accepted receivables in favor of the bank and gets its receivables discounted by the bank for a cost, on non-recourse (conditional) basis.
2. Installment Payment Agreement (IPA) – where the supplier supplies to a distributor and the distributor sells it to an end buyer. The distributer will be a client of Doha Bank and the end buyer may or may not be a client of Doha Bank. The distributor makes payments to the bank on installment basis since they will be receiving from the end buyer on installment basis only.
